Message from our Founder

I remember at a very young age, my Father ingrained in me the concept of envisioning my customers like they were my business partners… that meant that I trained myself to ensure their needs were met, in equal or greater importance to my own.  In other words, I committed to the humble responsibility to serve.

I started McRae Enterprises, with that in mind and I am proud to say that it is the foundation of everything we do. This has become a key ingredient to our company culture and what it means to be on the McRae team, we inherit the responsibility to serve. To Serve our Clients. To Serve our Team. To Serve our Partners … and most importantly, to Serve the Communities that our children will grow up in, first & foremost.

Founded by Micah McRae, McRae Enterprises was incorporated in pursuit of commercial construction performance.

Founded by Micah McRae, McRae Enterprises was incorporated in pursuit of commercial construction performance.

2008

First Healthcare Facility Project

McRae secures the first significant healthcare construction project. It included compressed schedules for a local optometry practice. Created great relationships and a reputation of high level performance in healthcare facilities.

2010

Growth & Diversity

McRae ventured into other specialty construction segments which operates all over the Midwest U.S. with it’s subsidiary company, Innovative Piering, LLC.

2011

Merging/Refocusing

In 2019, McRae absorbed its smaller subsidiary to focus solely on commercial construction, exclusively in the 2 hour radius around Greater Louisville Region.

Refinement & Efficiency

Efforts to retool and tackle our local market. Exited from other specialty construction trade work segments. Invested in local resources and geared up for excellent construction execution locally.

2022

Investment

Extensive engagement with consultants and advisors, investments into the structure of McRae’s model to allow for significant growth.

2023

CRE Developmnet

McRae performs it’s first large, owned and managed industrial development. This is the construction and leasing of a 30,000 SF industrial build-to-suit building with a long term tenant.

2024

Performance

Performance of many light industrial, food service, retail and commercial projects in the region. The McRae Team performed exceptionally well and boosted the market presence.

2025

Future Forecast

With previous investments in our processes, seeing exponential growth through sales and marketing, McRae is structured to provide excellence and value to every customer partner we work with.

Director of Operations
Derek’s journey in construction began at 13, working under his father, a general contractor. By his early 20s, he had established himself as a self-employed framer and remodeler before transitioning into construction management. Over the years, he has advanced through roles ranging from Assistant Superintendent to Director of Operations at McRae Enterprises. With decades of experience spanning single-family and multi-family developments, assisted living, healthcare, hospitality, education, mixed-use commercial, government, and civil projects, Derek brings an unparalleled depth of industry knowledge. When he’s not overseeing operations, he enjoys the outdoors, traveling with his family, and playing his acoustic guitar.

Chief Operating Officer
With a decade of experience in manufacturing, distribution, and construction, Liz is the backbone of McRae Enterprises’ internal operations. Her expertise in customer communication, logistics, and organizational efficiency ensures that every project runs seamlessly. As she transitions into the role of CEO, her focus is on strengthening the company’s long-term vision and growth strategy. Outside of work, Liz enjoys spending time with her family, practicing yoga, skating, and traveling the world.

Micah launched his career in high-end residential construction as a site foreman, but with the looming housing crisis, he shifted focus and founded McRae Enterprises in 2006. Built from the ground up, McRae Enterprises has grown into a leading force in commercial and light industrial construction across the Louisville region. A key figure in the industry, Micah serves on the One Southern Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the advisory board at the Prosser School of Technology. Beyond his role in shaping the company, he enjoys hiking, traveling with his wife and daughter, and pursuing his passion for motocross and motorcycles.

LEAD Estimator
Mike is a detail-driven estimator with a strong background in electrical trades and facility management. With seven years of electrical experience and over 12 years in facility maintenance, he brings a keen eye for cost analysis and project feasibility. Having successfully run his own business for five years, Mike understands both the big picture and the fine details of commercial construction. A graduate of the Indiana Association of School Business Officials Leadership Academy, he is deeply committed to precision and accountability. In his free time, Mike enjoys traveling with his wife and three children in their camper and exploring the outdoors.

Chief Financial Officer
As CFO of McRae Enterprises, Rob oversees financial strategy, ensuring the company’s stability and growth. He is responsible for budgeting, financial forecasting, risk analysis, and securing funding for new developments while maintaining compliance with tax regulations and optimizing cash flow. With a meticulous approach to financial planning, he ensures that every project is positioned for success. When not managing McRae’s financial health, Rob dedicates his time to his family, coaching youth sports, volunteering at church, and assisting with Fellowship of Christian Athletes camps.

Vice President of Business Development

Cory was born and raised in New Albany, IN. After attending Indiana University and Indiana University Southeast for his undergraduate and graduate studies, he worked in Indianapolis for the Indiana Department of Education as their Deputy Director of Government Affairs.

He worked for the Ivy Tech Foundation at their Sellersburg campus for three years. Immediately prior to joining McRae, he was the Executive Director of River Hills for five years. During his time, he focused on improving the organization and the region in which they serve. They doubled their staff, completely altered the culture, in a good way, and increased their annual revenue as much as 400% some years.

Cory is passionate about his community. He serves on several boards and commissions to give back as much as possible. He married way up to his wife, Alyssa. They currently live in Floyd County with their three young children. They love to travel and spend time as a family at Patoka Lake.
