When a leading logistics company acquired an aging distribution center in New Albany, Indiana, they turned to us for a complete exterior renovation that would align with their modern operational standards. Originally built in the 1950s for mass production of military housing, the facility required significant upgrades to meet today’s performance, safety, and aesthetic expectations.

McRae provided a turnkey design-build solution that prioritized minimal disruption to ongoing operations while delivering long-term durability and a fresh, contemporary appearance.

Key Project Objectives:

• Refresh the building’s exterior with a clean, modern look
• Reduce long-term maintenance requirements

Project Scope & Solutions:

• Installed a permanent parking lot addition to increase capacity and create contractor staging areas
• Engineered and erected a custom scaffolding system to ensure safe, efficient work access
• Removed and safely disposed of 92 asbestos-glazed windows at a hazardous waste facility
• Reframed window openings and installed insulated commercial-grade windows for improved energy efficiency
• Installed steel siding across building wings and EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System) on the center façade using aerial equipment to maximize safety and efficiency

Despite the challenges of tight space, traffic management, and the need to keep the facility fully operational, we completed the renovation on time, with zero cost overruns, and without a single safety incident.
